New Spell: Control Helm
This spell was first developed by elven pilots to guard against rival houses "borrowing" vessels. Today, it is often used to thwart hijackers, mutiny attempts, and sometimes simply to show off.
Control Helm Transmutation Level: Brd 5, Clr 5, Sor/Wiz 5 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 round Range: Touch Target: One helm Duration: 1 hour/level Saving Throw: Will negates (object) (see text) Spell Resistance: No (object)
This spell creates a mental link between the caster and the spelljamming helm touched. As long as the spell is active, the caster can operate the helm from a distance of up to one mile per caster level. If the target helm is controlled at the time the spell is cast, it may attempt a save to negate the effect. If the target helm is controlled when the caster attempts to operate the helm, the controller and caster must make opposed caster level checks each round to direct the helm (ties go to the controller of the helm).
Note that unlike most rules material on the site, this spell (and, in fact, all Spelljammer: Shadow of the Spider Moon rules material) isn't Open Content. Since the plans for any future published support for Spider Moon are still up in the air, I have to keep this material proprietary--for now. Still, that shouldn't keep you from enjoying it and using it in your home campaigns. Thanks! |
