Australia 2006
| Last spring, I received an invitation to Spring Revel
Downunder (Oct 5-8), one of Australia's premier gaming conventions.
A four-day business trip quickly gained an eight-day vacation, and we
were on our way.
One of the many highlights of our trip was a delightful showing of
Pirates of Penzance at the
Sydney Opera House. |

If you only have time for one activity in Sydney,
make it the Harbor Bridge Climb.
It's a good physical workout and offers the best views in the city.
Take the sunset climb if you can--it combines spectacular daylight and
nighttime skyline views. |
| Darling Harbor
is one of Sydney's tourist areas, and includes a fantastic aquarium that
features nifty underwater tunnels through seal and shark tanks. This grey
nurse shark was about as far above my head as your monitor is from your
face. |

As we discovered at the
Australian Reptile Park, not
all Australian wildlife is vicious, venomous, or both (despite many Aussies'
proud claims to the contrary). The fur of the koala (not a reptile,
despite its presence at this park) is extremely soft, like a sleek cat's.
Coincidentally, the koala also sleeps most of the day (due to the poor
nutritional value of eucalyptus). |
