The Aftermath After the conclusion of the final campaign session, each player shared a little bit about what his character or characters would do, now that the adventuring was done. Adarrial Smythe never truly settled down, returning to a life of travel. Along the way, he helped broker a new treaty between Brithonen and Blackmere, offering the promise of peace once again between those great peoples. Alarion Northsea returned, with the dragon Verdigris, to his stronghold of Silverpoint. Eventually, this small village became a great city, the sister to Helmsport across the river, carving out a bastion of civilization among the wilds. Beran split his days between humans and elves, learning more of his heritage while keeping the lands of the Western Province safe from dangerous beasts. Tainted as Caedrus was by Merrshaulk's power, even Altius himself could not restore life to the fallen rogue. However, the deity did manage to rescue his soul from damnation, and now the rogue's spirit walks the green fields of the afterlife. Duran Fortnite, in his new role as the god Seth, returned to the heavens with his father, Altius, and mother, Anaerynsia. Eandrynn returned to Brithonen, where he became a respected general and a teacher of the secrets of archery. He hasn't forgotten his friends, though, and still slips out from time to time to visit the halls of New Khundrukar. Falaster Morian went back to his life in the military. His troops soon tired of tirades that began, "You think you have it tough? Try swimming through the mouth of a giant shark-goddess and then you can complain!" Jarvis Osburn returned to Great Rock, where he hoped to settle down to a quiet life. That didn't last long; heeding the request of the King, Jarvis grudgingly served as Sheriff of Great Rock for nearly 40 years. Quinborough Cadwallader also settled in Great Rock, concluding that it wouldn't be a bad idea to stick close to the big lug he'd watched over for several months. Many other halflings followed from Stormpoint; within a decade, over a hundred little folk called Great Rock home, blessing the community with laughter and entertainment. Stannis Alensin returned to his home in Blackmere City, where his tales of adventure inspired many would-be loremasters for years to come. Under his guidance, the League of Scrolls expanded their ranks fivefold, becoming the leading force for learning and knowledge on the continent. Thomas Johnson took up residence in Blackmere, not far from the Church of Altius. Though no one's ever asked, he makes a point of patrolling the area, maintaining the safety and security of the Church. Thorgrimm took up the mantle of Lord of New Khundrukar, ruling the ever-growing community of dwarves with wisdom and grace. His doors are always open to old friends, and the halls frequently echo with oft-told tales of adventure. And Seth McCullin? Finally free of the taint of his blood, Seth quite simply disappears. With the loyal Rexander at his side, Seth walks the earth, seeing the sights through new eyes. Every few years, though, he shows up unexpectedly on the doorstep of one of his old friends to share an evening of reminiscing. By daybreak, he's invariably gone again . . . and he wouldn't have it any other way. As for the players? They celebrated.
